Khoros (Closed)

Ten peaks stand guard against foreign invaders and only the Roaring Gates, a narrow passage through the mountainside, allows entry over land through the southern border. Along the West and East, the small nation is surrounded by tall mountains and cliff faces. To the North lies Staleworth's bay, a safe-haven for merchant ships, and the primary hub for a vibrant slave trade in the port-city of Syntioch. Eskhor, the capital, rests further inland and is surrounded by a scattering of satellite towns and villages. Khoros capitalizes on it's slave trade in peace time and on hiring out it's expert footsoldiers to other nations, often to repel bandits, quell rebellions, or drive back wild tribes

Being the third largest city of the country, Thekhor plays an important, if understated role in the nation’s politics. Located against the foot of a large mountain range the city gets most of its economic wealth from its mines. The gemstones mined from the depths of the mountains are often sent to Eskhor where they are purchased by the wealthy or sold on at a premium. Accusations of illegal trade routes to Athesh have always been denied by the local government.

  • Eskhor
The capital of Khoros sits further inland and is only connected to the port-city Syntioch by a narrow strait through which a steady stream of low, flat boats ferry wares to and from the city center. All governing bodies as well as the renowned Khorosi footsoldiers have their home here. All the wealth Khoros has accumulated is on display in the city and can be seen in its architecture, especially in the Kalaar, the golden district of the city. On the whole, Eskhor is very well maintained, as are its citizens.

  • Syntioch
The bustling port-city looks out over Staleworth bay through which many merchant ships come and go each day. It is something of a miracle that no serious accidents have taken place yet as the docks are often overcrowded with galleys and schooners. Housing in Syntioch is notoriously expensive and makeshift slums have started to emerge on the outskirts of the city. Those of a shrewd mind can earn a pretty coin from the vibrant slave trade, if they know who to bribe and who to avoid.
