For two millennia the silver-white spires of Mitra have pierced the sky. At the heart of the city lies the White Keep, a leviathan fortress sculpted from white stone, the glistening jewel of civalization with only two broad bridges spanning its moat. Beyond its careful watch sprawls Mitra, bone-white palaces and red-roofed houses stretch far before they give way to shadowed alleys and crammed, newer growth. White stone becomes gray at the edges, then turns to crooked timber squats, sprouting like weeds growing in an old garden. Weathered stone rings encircle the heart of Mohsal, the outer walls pockmarked by sieges of old, but its third and innermost wall remains unblemished.
