Caldris Venn
Name: Caldris Venn
Age/DoB: 15th of Malden, 958NE
Faceclaim: Digital Art
Appearance: Caldris Venn is an elderly man whose hair, now mostly white, still retains streaks of black at the back. A neatly styled beard frames his wrinkled face and his sunken, watery eyes say what he will not: he's old and past his prime, his strength fails him, he has seen and knows too much.
Venn's clothing suits his station as Lord Regent of Mohsal. He dons dark purple robes embroidered with silver thread and while these clothes are of fine make, they are understated and muted compared to the usual flair of Mohsali nobility. Around Venn's neck hangs a silver-blue chain bearing the crest of Mohsal, a golden sun from which eight flames fan outward.
Personality:
At the head of the council table sits Caldris Venn, a statesman whose spine is a brittle as the rest of his aging bones. Once a respected advisor to the late king Catos, Venn now clings to protocol and precedents while the kingdom withers around him.
Venn is a cautious and pragmatic man. Now that the vigor of youth has left him he has become paralyzed by indecision. Long will he weight the potential consequences of every action and often does he reach for precedents and protocols of old to guide him. Yet his adherence to tradition, to the counsel of long-dead rulers who commanded a far different realm, only allows Mohsal's power and glory to wither further. Though he bears the title of Lord Regent, stronger wills bend him like a reed in the wind. "The weathervane of the Silver Palace," courtiers call him.
Despite his indecision, Venn is not without redeemable qualities. For one, he genuinely cares for the people of Mohsal and the preservation of the Kingdom, its history and culture. Though old and weak of body, his mind remains sharp and he knows much of history. Too much, some might say...
Strengths: Knowledgeable, loyal, cautious
Weaknesses: Indecisive, physically weak, gullible
